Hawa Boussim – the voice from the Sahel – concert as part of the africologneFESTIVAL 2025

The artist and singer Hawa Boussim from Burkina Faso has made a name for herself through her music. The career of this exceptional artist, who is over fifty years old, is impressive and reflects a great school of life. Born in Kipoura in Boulgou (Burkina Faso), her musical journey began in her community, singing at baptisms, weddings, funerals and other ceremonies. These formative moments helped her to not only build a reputation, but also to refine her voice and style. Although she received no schooling, she knows how to convey emotion to any sensitive soul through the Bissa language.

In 2009, she won first prize in a music competition organized by a cultural association in her home town. This marked the beginning
of her career. Hawa Boussim has since performed on various stages in West Africa, Europe and the USA. Today, Hawa Boussim is a symbol of quality and inspiration that gives hope to many people. She is one of the brightest African artists today whose music is seen as a gift and talent to heal hearts and create awareness.
In Cologne, she will perform at the africologneFESTIVAL together with her band and a pianist from Cologne on Sunday, June 15, at Odonien – Freistaat für Kunst und Kultur.
