Promoting tangible and intangible cultural heritage in the deserts of Africa

The Jutta Vogel Foundation supports projects by local representatives as well as projects by scientists and researchers for cultural preservation in African desert regions. It supports larger and smaller research projects, documentaries such as film productions, museum and art projects. The aim is to preserve local knowledge and the way of life of the desert dwellers for future generations.

The Jutta Vogel Foundation is actively committed to the preservation and research of tangible and intangible cultural heritage in the African desert regions. With a special focus on ethnology, archaeology, prehistory and early history, it supports projects, documentation and measures for cultural preservation in order to preserve the local knowledge and the way of life of the desert dwellers in the long term.

  • Support for local projects with local partners
  • Creation of audio, video and written recordings of traditions, stories, songs, dances and other forms of cultural expression
  • Support for anthropological and ethnological studies
