The highly acclaimed public keynote speech at the “European Conference on African Studies 2023” and the public program of the City of Cologne “African Futures – all around” by Kenyan author Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor on June 1, 2023 was funded by the Jutta Vogel Foundation.

The public program African Futures – All Around offers a scientific, cultural and socio-political program for all citizens to enter into a respectful and critical conversation with each other, to gain new and differentiated perspectives and to celebrate together.

Featuring a keynote address by Kenyan writer Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor.

Owuors was awarded the Caine Prize for African Writing in 2003. Her debut novel ‘The Place Where the Journey Ends’ (DuMont 2016) was shortlisted for the Folio Prize, and she also received the Jomo Kenyatta Prize for Literature for it.
