Children’s FilmFestival (KIFIFE) in the Operndorf Afrika

2025

Children’s festival KIFIFE from May 27 to 31, 2025

The children’s festival KIFIFE (Kid’s Film Festival), which takes place from May 27 to 31, 2025 in the Opera Village Africa in Burkina Faso, is an annual film festival that has been bringing children and young people closer to the world of cinema since 2019. Over the course of four days, it shows films with young protagonists – from feature films to animations – that reflect both the everyday lives and the fantasy worlds of young Africans. The aim is to open up new perspectives for young viewers and give them a creative voice.

The festival not only offers film screenings, but also workshops with African filmmakers who introduce children and young people to the many different aspects of filmmaking. It is part of the cultural education program of the Operndorf Afrika, which was initiated by German artist Christoph Schlingensief.

The Jutta Vogel Foundation supports Christoph Schlingensief’s opera village because it offers a unique platform to promote cultural education and artistic development. For the foundation, the opera village is an important project that can bring about lasting positive changes in people’s lives and contribute to cultural preservation in a variety of ways.
