Engagement and Dialogue with Sudan

Following the great success of the documentary *Khartoum* at the 2025 Cologne Africa Film Festival, we would like to continue exploring the social and political developments in Sudan. We will place a special focus on Sudanese director Ibrahim Snoopy, whose film was awarded the Audience Choice Award for Best Documentary.

For the upcoming festival, there are plans to invite Ibrahim Snoopy back to Cologne—as the festival’s patron, a member of the international jury, and a guest speaker for the audience and industry professionals. Accompanied by additional films and events related to Sudan, his visit is intended to open up new perspectives, strengthen cultural exchange, and create opportunities for direct encounters.

Especially at a time when media attention on Sudan is limited, the festival offers an opportunity to shed light on the background of the situation and to promote international understanding through film and personal dialogue.
